Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. Jacqueline Fernandez's mother Kim and her father Elroy were both born in Malaysia. There are two brothers younger than her as well as an older sister. The family have moved to Bahrain in 1980s due to the Lankan tensions and she was born and raised in Bahrain. After graduating from the schooling in Bahrain she received the Scholarship at the University of Sydney to pursue an Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. Her passion for languages and cultures has led her to the Berlitz language school, where she improved her French and Arabic as she learned Spanish. In 2006, she won Miss Sri Lanka. Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March 2006 and also competed for Miss Universe 2006. After winning Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she entered the world of television and anchored a show on Sri Lanka's business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father is a professional badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. While still a teenager, Padukone played in many national badminton tournaments. However, she resigned from playing when she made the decision to become a fashion model. Padukone is a native of Mangalore, Indian. The language she speaks is Konkani is her origin. Padukone is located in the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of global repute. Her mother is a travel consultant.
